According to research, organic search traffic across a 64-site portfolio dropped -42% from peak to trough between Q1 2023 and Q4 2025. After Google’s initial AI Overviews launch in mid-2024, traffic never recovered. When Google entered an expansionary AI phase in May 2025, the declines accelerated quarter over quarter.

The reason is simple: when Google answers a question for the user on the results page itself, there’s no reason to click through to a website. No click. No visit. No new patient inquiry.

Here’s the detail that should get every chiropractor’s attention: Health content has one of the highest AI Overview appearance rates of any industry. A full 43% of health-related queries now trigger an AI-generated summary, according to Ahrefs data from November 2025.

That means almost half of the searches your potential patients are doing, questions like “does chiropractic help with sciatica?” or “how many adjustments do I need?”, are being answered by Google’s AI before anyone ever lands on your site. The informational content that once reliably drove traffic to chiropractic websites is now being absorbed into the results page itself.
